th400 K-case ment more for 4x4 or hd 3/4 or 1ton stuff .

and a th475 was from p-series chassis and most had bolt on e-brake on the back end . they got straight cut gears in them .

Th400, mostly the same just a better housing design. Can be used in both 2 and 4 wheel applications depending on what tail you bolt on.

TH400 for a 4x4 only. And I believe it will only work with certain transfer case adapters because of the output shaft length. Output shaft is to short for a 2wd tailhousing. Price will vary depending on the purchaser. To make it 2wd the transmission would have to be taken apart and changing the output shaft and adding a tailhousing. 2wd output shafts vary if bolt on yoke or slip yoke.

So will this 400 bolt up to a 350 with an adapter and lets say a 205 transfer case without moving transaxel or transmission mounts

Re: help me Identify the transmission I got

sbc and bbc use the same bell housing pattern . direct bolt up .

as to trans and t-case that combo is specific lengths each . so say you took out a th350 trans and 208 t-case this th400 might or might not drop in .

just plan on moving the trans crossemember with a few 7/16 holes drilled in the frame rail lip . then possible drive shaft length change .

as to the 205 you need the th400 to 205 adapter for the 205 you have . fig 8 or round 6 bolt pattern .

but you also need to measure the tail shaft stick out from the back of the case so you know what shaft you have for bolting fig 8 or round 6 pattern up to it .

and the 205 needs to be a 32 spline female input .

but most important does this trans work ? have you seen it drive or drove it ? all this could be for nothing if its in need of a full rebuild .

and these truck dont have a transaxle unit . thats fwd stuff .

1983 to 1988 turbo 400 out of a 4x with a 208 t-case. May have been behind a 6.2 diesel
