Bed cover for my Fleetside
 

Hi guys,

Looking for a soft bed cover for my long fleet. I am willing to drill, cut, weld, grind, whatever takes to make it work. We are talking daily driver.

I have looked all over the web and on here but I am nowhere close finding a product. The problem could be between the chair and the keyboard and if so I hope you will excuse me:mm:

For my step side I used a 70s style soft tonneau cover and adapted it to work. I had the folks over at Horkeys Wood and Parts make me a nice support to go on the underside. You may reach out to them and see if they can help with your situation.

Looking back, I prolly could have built that myself. But.....

You can have one made locally. I would suggest going to one of your local marine canvas shops and having one made out of Sunbrella (canvas boat top material) Or Marine vinyl.

Years ago when Bob Russel of Waco, Texas did mine he installed a strip of metal at the front that has a groove in it that the cover is slide into much like sliding a sail into the track on a boom. Then he installed the snaps along the sides as you see with Mikebte's truck.

I didn't have any ribs or support under mine but it did fill with water when it rained hard and one had to be careful off that.

I have a cover by CraftecCovers.com on my '59 Fleetside. They were very helpful and answered emails promptly. The link below takes you to a post here with pics of my installation and others info. I didn't bother with installing the gas spring setup they provided, I just use a length of broom handle to prop up the end when I need it up. Not having the springs also makes it easy to take the whole cover off in 10 seconds, just pivot it up and unhook it. The front is sort of a captured hinged deal that separates when at 90°.
