Fuel inlet TBI O-rings
I just finished rebuilding my TBI Model220. I did not see any o rings of any type when I removed the fuel inlet ports on the back of the throttle body. Is this normal? When I turn the engine over I’m noticing a fuel leak at one of the fuel ports. What size would they be?

What I’m finding is that the threads on the fuel inlet on the meter body and a bit stripped out! What are my options in repairing this? It tightens up enough but I don’t want to over tighten and strip out what’s left. I was thinking about putting some kind of sealant over the threads and allowing it to cure before pressurizing the gas line again.
I know... I know... not how it’s supposed to be done but I don’t want to thread it oversized and find this and find that. However, if it’s my only option, then I don’t have any other choice. Any thoughts? |

Myself, I think I would try and find another unit that hasn't been buggered up. Thewre are tons of these trucks in the yards, you should be able to find a good one to work from.
I have never rebuilt one, so I don't know tyhe details of the hookup. Hopefully some of the smart folks will chime in for ya. |

You have an oring on the fuel line going both in and out. On the fittings that go into the TBI you have a Teflon washer that should go on both the feed and return line.
I had to purchase a rebuild kit to get the washers. |

The fitting itself or the line is leaking ?
The braided lines are a 16x1.5 for inlet and a 14x1.5 for return. I just order a set of these to a -6an male for an easy conversion to my fitech unit. The bad is, i tossed my tbi unit as i thought everyone considered them junk...didnt realize so many people used them for anything. |

After a bit more research, I learned that Teflon washers are also known as PTFE. These washers are fairly easy to find. Once I find the meter body that I need, I’ll just run by ace hardware and find the correct sized washer.
Also, on the fuel line wth the flaired fitting, does this take an o ring as well? I thought the flaired end creates the seal. |

I’m pretty stoked guys! I came to the junk yard immediately after work and found the part I needed! I would have taken the entire throttle body but the people who got to it before me already destroyed it. They removed the injectors and misplaced the cover that goes over the top. Also, being an electrician, I don’t have all the tools I need to take everything out. Just need to clean her and let her soak...
Only thing that upsets me is the junkyard charges for a full throttle body part!!! Assholes! |
