Re: What is on your work bench?

I have to tell you, I have had this beautiful bench in my garage/shop for 20 years.

https://www.hotrodders.com/forum/att...p;d=1533964341

Look at how thick the top is, almost two inches! It was an amazing bench, bolted to the wall, I could have built a friggin semi truck motor on it. But alas, it was always covered with crap! ALWAYS covered with crap.

I came to the conclusion I had to remove it so I could fit my truck frame into to garage/shop. I cut it up taking the piece with the vice off, made a few new legs and reinforcements.

Then moved it to the other side of the garage out of the way.

I haven't moved the truck frame in there yet so that spot where the bench was has remained empty, I roll the MIG over there now, I can walk through without an issue, it's awesome! I have used the new bench where it is now for a month or so and I don't miss the big bench at all, I am thrilled with what I have done and know I will never make that mistake of having a junk collector again.

A pair of Holley 660 center squirters I'm rebuilding, and a big stinking mess! Time to clean up again ha ha actually this is the worst it's been for a while, having too much fun playing with the new toy to stop and clean but need to do it.

I can't even get into my garage to my work bench right now. I had to get my torch out to go cut up a mobile home frame last week and it took a half hour of moving things to get it out. Scrap prices are too low to afford hauling the rest so I am going to build a frame table out of what is left of the straight pieces.

Way in the back of the one car garage I have a stainless steel topped table/bench like the ones we used when I worked for TSA at the airport with two heavy duty drawers. I bought it through the GSA auction but it is covered with stuff right now. My vise and bench grinder are on a stand that is outside right now the stand being made with a semi truck brake drum as the base. Cross piece on top with the vise on one side and the grinder on the other.

Precisely why everything in my garage is on rollers....including the welding table/workbench.

I saw what looked like a big fab table at the scrap yard the other day made out of plate that looked over an inch thick. It and a couple of other real heavy pieces were set out to the side by the gate and appeared to be on display. I thought at the time I wasn't sure my flatbed was rated for the weight it might have.
