HEI distributors in a 235?
Lots more 235 six cylinder action here than in the later years, so I'm asking if anyone in this crowd has installed one of these HEI dizzies in their truck.
https://www.ebay.com/itm/A-Team-Perf....c100005.m1851 I've seen prices from $66 up to over $300 for what seems a similar set up. I'm gonna put new ignition in my '62 and could used constructive feedback if ya'll are inclined. Thanks in advance. |
Re: HEI distributors in a 235?
At the price I'd think it would be worth taking a chance on it.
There are some threads on the net on how to modify a stock 250 Hei to work on a 216 or 235 and it doesn't appear to be too difficult. Here is one https://www.chevytalk.org/fusionbb/s.../fromsearch/1/ |
Re: HEI distributors in a 235?
I put a simular one in my '57 235, had clearance issues with side cover on the engine. A little grinding on the distributor base made it work, have not drove it with this system yet.

I dropped in the Pertronix retro in about 25 minutes and am really happy with it. Have you considered it?

I saved this link a long time ago, when thinking about doing this. Good site for DIYs.
