fuel line routing
 

hello, i need a little help here. im trying to decide how to route the fuel lines from the intake to the tank. i have a 68 gmc 2wd shortbed. the motor is a 5.3 from an 02 truck. the tank has been moved tto the rear under the bed. i have the truck manifold with the return. if i go along the firewall to the frame they seem pretty close to the header. i was looking at some of the braided line kits and saw they included 180 degree fittings. did anyone run those and have the fuel line go toward the front and then into the frame to avoid the exhaust?

It's up to you as to how you run it...shortest distance is always best....but do stay away from the headers...use whatever it's takes and you should be good...

In my 65 I ran them along the frame rail and then under the front part of the cab to the center of the firewall to keep them away from exhaust.

definitely frame rail. I used black braided hose and Russel fittings. No issue. don't forget to Put your filter somewhere with easy access to change when the time comes

braided line from rails to firewall, then hard lined down firewall under truck near first cab mount, then over to rail and runs along passenger rail back to tank. Fuel stuff will have to cross over the exhaust path at some point, so I chose that spot since it gave ~5" air gap and let me fit a nomex sheath over the fuel line in that spot.

Could use some adel clamps to fix it against the firewall and get passed the headers

Last one I did I just ordered a second factory fuel supply line, twinned it and used it as the return with a little modification!

ok thanks for all your ideas. after trying several ways i ended up with 120 degree fittings on 6an PTFE hose at the fuel rail. I ran the lines under the engine cover. they route around the motor mount perches and down the drivers side frame rail to the tank. it has good clearance from the headers /Exhaust

So you ran the line to the front of the engine and down?
