Last time around! '72 Cheyenne Super C10 SWB build.

As you can see from my signature, I've been around the block a time or two. I've been through quite a few trucks. I decided that it was time to do it one last time. This time, build (and keep) my dream truck. I recently decided to get serious and start my search for the right truck and it finally hit my driveway last night. It's a '72 Cheyenne Super 1/2 ton long box. It's a big block, AC truck. It's original, unmolested and not in too bad of shape. The guy I bought it from had owned it for the last 30 years. The original Protect-O-Plate and build sheet were in the glove box. It was built in Fremont, California December 22, 1971 and was shipped to George Dugan Chevrolet in Klamath Falls, Oregon. It was purchased new by F.W. Copeland from Dorris, California on June 14, 1972.

I will use this thread to document it's progress.

This was purchased last week just as you see it for the SWB rolling frame. Everything else will be sold.

Knowing that my truck was purchased new at George Dugan Chevrolet in Klamath Falls OR, I decided to jump on the internet to see what I could find out about the dealership. Inside of 5 minutes, I ran across this original pair of license plate frames on eBay of all places! I'm never that lucky! Anyways...SCORE!! :metal::lol:

I also went to the DMV this morning and she's now legal. Just waiting on tires and wheels.

Got some new rolling stock on yesterday and MAN...what a difference! Pulling off that 700-pound rear bumper and the huge towing mirrors helps a bit too!

Great find! What are the plans for the truck besides SWB? Seaside is a beautiful town by the way, Oregon coastline is fantastic

I went with 255/60's in the front and 275/60's in the rear. 8" wide wheels all around.

The overall plan is to use it as a daily driver and work on it while doing so. Once everything is switched over to the powdercoated/detailed rolling frame. It's DD status will get kicked down to only nice days DD and I'll be on the hunt for a little DD commuter. I will be taking this thing the whole way eventually though so there is rust repair, rebuilding, repainting, lowering...all sorts of stuff coming up. I'm also heavily leaning towards changing the color on it as I've never been a big Ochre fan. It is somewhat growing on me but we'll see. At this current moment, I'm thinking it'll be Medium Bronze.

I promised Mrs Silvertongedevil that I'd get a few things done for her yesterday so I didn't get much done on the truck. While not overly exciting, progress is progress and I had fun doing it. The 46 year old lenses were faded, cracked and broken so they were replaced.

Out with the old...

I got the engine, trans, and cab all sold off so now I'm down to something I can work with here.

More of a freshening up. I'm going to drive it for a while. If it continues on the same path that it's currently on (no leaks, no smoke, no noises, runs strong, good compression), I'll just pull it out and detail it...maybe add a couple of performance goodies but nothing major.
