Metal channel door glass rubber tape

Ordered new rubber seals weatherstripping for door n vent glass. This rubber tape was sent for the actual window channel with no directions. Do I use this or just use black silicone caulk or this tape? If I use tape which side goes on glass cause one side has a liner n other side doesn’t or does it matter, also install then trim off extra cause it is really wide? Does the tape new a glue or does it seal itself? This is for a 55 Chevy 2nd series.
Thanks Jeff

You fold the tape lengthwise set it down in the slot and push the glass down with the tape on three sides. It usually takes a rubber mallet to bop it down into the channel all the way.

First time I watched a glass shop guy do it I about had a heart attack as he nonchalantly picks up a rubber mallet and proceeds to tap the glass down into the channel.

As hard core as I am about doing my own work Glass work is one thing I don't mind paying experts for.

Steel Rubber has the tape you are looking for to set glass in a metal channel. It comes in a couple of thickness's and I think they will send you a sample of each so you can decide which you need. When using it you clean the glass perfectly clean and clean the channel as good as possible. Measure off how much you need to go around the glass and cut it off, roll it up loosely , and put it in hot water for a few minutes. Then you wrap it around the glass, don't stretch it, fold it over the glass, and then put it into the metal channel. Then you carefully tap the glass into the channel with a rubber mallet, or tap the channel onto the glass, which ever way as long as you get the channel seated fully. Let it set for a while and then take a razor knife and trim it along the channel edge. It's not difficult if you take your time.

NOTE: Re-read your post and it sounds like you already have the setting tape. The instructions I gave worked perfectly for me so I hope it works for you.
