Bed Front Panel Bolt Direction
Quick question...
What direction do the bolts that attach the front panel to the bedsides point, to the front or rear? |
Re: Bed Front Panel Bolt Direction
As far as I know they push through the panel towards the cab.

Re: Bed Front Panel Bolt Direction
Nuts inside bed according to assembly manual.

Yep, that's what I found too after finally thinking about looking in the AIM. (Although they look better going the opposite way...)

Re: Bed Front Panel Bolt Direction
I suggest putting the nuts inside the bed. When my dad and I put together his 64 bed, it was my idea to put the bolt heads in the bed, but then after we attached the bed one of the bolts scratched the back of the cab and we had to carefully cut the end off it with a hack saw blade. Those bolts come closer to the bed than I expected.

Re: Bed Front Panel Bolt Direction
Good point. I wound up installing them as it shows in the AIM.

1 Attachment(s)
I went and looked at the bed (Short, Step-Side) I bought for my truck today. There are 5 bolt's on each side in the front. The top two are rear facing and are not seen from the bed. The bottom three are facing the cab.
View "A" in the 1960-1966 Chev/GMC Truck Factory Assembly Instruction Manual also shows this bolt configuration. |
