Front Light Delete Help. '71 chevy
 

Here's the deal. I'm trying to delete the factory front turn signal lights in the bumper and use the halos that are in the head lights. I've been having issues doing this though, while getting my blinkers to function properly as well.

My end goal: is to have my halos to work as my front lights and blinkers.

The problem: Since the bumper lights ground out through the bumper contact, my blinkers don't work right and the front side marker aren't working either.

What I know so far: There is a light blue and a brown wire that goes to the front light. The blue wire goes to the side marker light. I think both lights ground out through the bumper. So technically the front lights are a 3 wire system.

I'm hoping that someone out there has done something similar and can help me out.

Do your Halos have turn signal lights in the bulbs, If not you may run into trouble with the DOT in Kansas. If so you will probably need to run relays to avoid burning out the TS switch
or the small wires that power the turn signals.

What do you plan on doing with the parking lights in the bumper lights?

I was going to get a smooth bumper but then I got to thinking about the holes left behind and had a idea. I'm going to custom build some air scoops that fit the bumper and either run them to the air box I need to make or, later when I start auto-crossing it, to the brakes to cool them down.

As for the halos, I can get them to work when the light are on or have them blink. One or the other not both. The light blue wire is the intermittent signal for the blinkers and the brown wire is the constant on when the LS is on.

The more I think about it the more I think its impossible. Is there any one that has better electrical knowledge than me. Maybe I'll just run some '68 front lights behind the grill or something. I really hate the lights in the bumper.

Not familiar with the halos but you may need an eletronic blinker switch if those are LEDs. I put leds all around my 71 and had to change it to make them work. Just a thought.

Oh yeah I forgot to mention that I had that installed. I got led specific flasher in my turn signal. That's not the issue. The rear blinkers work fine with all my led upgrades but I'm having trouble trying to get my two wire halos to act like a three wire circuit. I have all led lights in my truck all from lmc, not counting the halos head lights.

You can't make a 2 way head light work 3 ways. You can buy 3 way lights though... That what I have but I didn't hook the turn signals up.:chevy:

These are expensive but should fix your problem. You could use a regular relay but the flasher may be too fast for the relay to react.

These look really promising and the price isn't too bad considering new light fixtures from LCM are close to $40 a piece. Then add the led lights for another $40.
