66 3/4 ton good for restomod?
I found a 65 GMC on an on line ad that looks to be in good restorable shape. I've been looking for one for a restomod project. I would be replacing the drive train with a more modern engine, tranny and rearend and updating the suspension (nothing radical), just power disc brakes and some lowering springs. I noticed the truck pictured has 6 wheel bolts and assume it's a 3/4 ton. Should I be concerned? Is this going to cause me any problems? What is the difference between the 1/2 ton and 3/4 ton? Just the hubs and heavier springs? Everything else basically the same?

6-lug would be a half ton. The three quarter and one ton trucks were 8-lug.

Six lugs mean its a 1/2 ton. Eight lugs would be 3/4 ton.

A half ton is 1000lb load capacity and 3/4 ton is 1500lb load capacity. 3/4 has 8 lugs as mentioned and different suspension and possibly a slightly heavier frame. If you want a truck-like ride, load capacity, don't want it to be more like a car, 3/4T is is perfect. If you want to lower it and not carry a load, 1/2T is the way to go.
