My dad scored a '68 shortbed barn find today
5 Attachment(s)
Looks to be in real good shape. Still titled to the original owner. I guess about 10 years ago they tried to get it back on the road. Swapped the motor for a 400 small block. Finally got it running and it ran for two minutes and the motor locked up. Turns out a screw from the carb had been dropped in the intake during the build. Made its way into the block and she was done. He lost interest and it's been sitting in a metal hut ever since.
Has California mirrors and a ton of new parts that the guy bought when he was going to build it. |

I can picture it now - fully restored with the original caps on it. I'd keep it too! Great find, congrats (to Dad) - thanks for sharing. Looks like someone even added an am/fm from a slightly newer truck.

Thats a sad story, I feel sorry for the guy. But at least it will live again now.
I dropped the filter washer into my KTM 250 two stroker once and it locked it up. Much easier fix though, you have the cylinder honed and replace the piston and you're ragin again. |

Nice truck! I don't think I have ever seen a '68 with that paint stripe, not to mention a shortbed with leaf springs
