NOS Engine/Starter Harness 3942817 or 3942818
 

What I have here is an NOS Engine/Starter Harness. The part number on the box is missing the last digit, but it is written in with black pen. Also, on the box, someone wrote the description 1967-72 with V8 with Guages, and a part number of 3942818. However, on the wire itself, there is an orange tag that reads TEG_2817. So, I'm left with doubt. I am not sure if this is item# 3942817
and the box was mislabeled 3942818, or if it's correct. The best I can do is provide plenty of pics and measurements.

From the plastic retainer that the wires are taped into, the following colored wires measure as followed:

These wires and their lengths will be grouped in to two groups that feed off of the passenger side:

Red =41 in.
Yellow =31 in.
Green =46 in.

Purple =36 in.
Yellow = 36 in.
Blue =38 in

On the driver side (fuse block side), the main harness measures 13.5 in. from the plastic sheathe, and the brown wire measures 17.25 in from the point in which it exits the sheathe.

My main question, is what is it's exact application? Value too?

My guess is it is non Guage truck. The blue wire is for the oil warning light and the green end is for light too. It would be easy to change the green wire end for gauge sending unit and push out the blue wire from the plug for an NOS engine harness :)

I will try to look it up in Chevy and or GMC book.

My guess is it is an 817. Also, by where the blue wire is and the color of the green wire it is for a 6cyl. 818 ending listed in Chevy book and longer layout is GMC book. No 817 in the Chevy book.
