Tune up time
Hey Folks,
Figure I'll do my much needed tune up on my truck over Christmas. Just looking at the plugs, they all seem pretty accessible. Just wondering if I might need the rare as hen's teeth thin walled (spark plug) socket to get any of these guys out or can I just accomplish this with a universal and various length extensions? Oh, this is an original sbc 350. All y'all have a merry Christmas!:uhmk: |
Re: Tune up time
You shouldn't have any problem using a standard spark plug socket.
It does get a little tight if the vehicle has headers or A/C....but apart from the fancy finger work working under the exhaust manifold it is all doable. ....just note that it is not a 5 minute job....might take a few minutes per spark plug so be patient. All good Coley |
Re: Tune up time
I have one that is next to impossible because of my headers. It took a lot of patience using an open end wrench to get it started..

Re: Tune up time
I have shorty headers and a few of the plugs are nearly impossible. I learned on mine that it is easier to remove the header then change the plugs. The shorty comes out the top.

Re: Tune up time
Thanks.. No headers yet,....still in the planning stages. But once I do the HEI or Pertronix, wires and plugs,...it should be a fairly long while before the plugs need attending to,...(I hope).
