Transfer case identification

Can you tell me what transfer case this is? And can you tell me if it’s worth using, or would you stay with a 205 no matter what?

np208 or 241 . cant tell untill you show the round tag on the back side that will have 208c or 241c on it .
i skip 208 cases as 241 is stronger and better low ratio . if you are happy with the 205 stay . if you want quieter / easy shifting / lower low gear ratio then go newer case . |

(copied)...The NP transfer cases are easily identified by the numbering in its red and silver tag on the back. The model number and gear ratio will be listed. the tag k30's referring to .. |

Looks like a 208 to me. 208 has a 1 piece rear tail housing. 241 has a 2 piece tail housing. 241 started in 86? (I believe) in left hand drop (K series) and in the square body (V series) it was right hand drop starting in 89 for 3 years in the Burb and blazer. After 91, in the burb and blazer, it went back to left side with the ifs. I think that is all correct

I flipped the picture for easier viewing. I'm not sure what chassis this is. Newer than the 67-72 and its a blazer. I was only looking for a 700R4 when I picked this up. It also has been converted to 3/4 ton with 4:10 gearing (14boltFF in the rear). I figured I could use the axels to put my K20 burb back to K20 status. So I bought all of it. Then someone bought my burb. Recently I thought I had all of this stuff gone in a 3-way trade, but that didn't work out. So now I'm trying to figure out if the T-case is worth keeping. I need to strip this all down and get rid of the rails etc so what I save will take up less space.
Its an ugly day out today, but Ill try and get back out there and look for the tag. |

With a fuel filter like that, it’s a tbi engine, so 87-91.

Yes it is a TBI engine. I had forgotten that. Its in the chassis too, just unsure if its any good or not. Didn't factor into the purchase because I have no use for it.
I bet Livrat has answered all these questions for me before. Problem is that I ask him soooo many questions and I don't always write the answers down ... I forget =( Now Ill have it here to reference though, sorry Mark (Livrat) lol! |

Like the tag says, 208, from an 87. You could get a 700r4 in a 3/4 ton...

Its a mish mash of parts on this blazer chassis. TBI, 700R4, 208 T-case, and probably 73 3/4 ton axels. I think the front has four inch lift springs and the rear has blocks.
Now thanks to the board and Livrat I have a good handle on everything that's there. |
