Hickey swing down folding steps

Recently I acquired some hickey folding down steps that originally was on a GMC Desert Fox. These are shown in the catalog below and have rubber mats with "HE Step". I have both sets for drivers and passenger side. This was over a $100 option from the dealer. I would like to restore these. The spring and folding mechanism works good.

I've also seen the step made from cast aluminum. Where these with the rubber mat only offered with the GMC desert Fox?

You don't want that junk. I'll graciously dispose of those for you.

I've seen them put on by folks, but never saw one done with a factory model. Very kool!

If I understand correctly this was a ship thru program. So GM shipped the vehicle to Ventura CA and Hickey installed the parts. Then the vehicle went to the dealer. So this GMC Jimmy could be considered as a Hickey vehicle.
