wiring harness crimpers

anyone know where i can get the crimpers needed for an AAW wiring harness other than AAW? im just trying to see if there are cheaper options, i know they rent them but i am only home one week a month and i will either use them too long or forget i have them.

I got a set from home depot. They work good probably not exactly like aaw, but did a nice job when I did my bulkhead at the firewall.

Look for Packard terminal crimpers. I saw this one after searching Tool Aid S&G 18960 .

I bought a used pair that AAW originally sold and they are much better than the ratcheting type.

Also, get an automatic wire stripper like this one. Worth it's weight in gold if you don't have one. :chevy:

I would spend the money and buy the right tool. I tried two different 35 dollar tools and both did not work as well as the aww tool I wasted 70 extra dollars. On top of that i just bought a second aww kit for the truck im working on now and plan on a third for my chevelle i will be restoring.

I use this. It has TONS of crimp dies available. I think I have like 6 or so different sets.

It came highly recommended from our electronics department at work. They build harnesses all day.

I think I will get one of those. Thanks for posting.
What dies do you own?
It looks like 2095,2096, & 2097 would be a good place to start.

I'm not home to look right now but I will try to look later. I know I have a set for the basic red/blue/yellow splices, a weather pac set, a set for making your own plug wires, and a few others.

It really is a handy tool and the more dies you have the more often you find yourself using it.
