Where do the defrost ducts go in the dash?
 

This seems like a silly question to me but I just don't see any factory provision for a defroster duct. Is this a hole saw job or am I missing something right in front of me or what?
The truck is finally decent enough to use on a daily basis but man, I'm getting tired of wiping the fog off the glass with a rag!
Need to put a heater box & defrost in this thing soon.

There are 2 ducts that screw in from the bottom of the dash near the base of the windshield. If you pop the trim strip off on top of the dash near the bottom of the windshield, you will see 2 slots as well as the screw holes. 1 for each side. I'd look from underneath first as they may be there already. If not, you should be able to see the slots. Here's a couple of pics.

what heater do you have? basic that recirculates inside the cab air, or the deluxe heater that can get air from the cowl?
either way there are ducts that can/should be connected. if you look under the dash,near the window, there may be vent tubes screwed in there and the flexible duct tube simply rotted off or was supper for a overnight tennant.

I looked up top and underneath before and didn't see it. Once I knew what I was looking for, though.. :)
Wish I hadn't gotten rid of the OEM heater core but such is life - now at least I know what all I need to do / buy

even the heater was an option in these trucks, my 59 panel was a southern california truck
it had nothing in it, of course when i bought it there were still lots of these trucks in the junkyards
vintage air has the defrost vents for their surefit heaters, you can probably buy them from va

I believe the heater was an option in the cars too, and in truck up into the sixties if I am not mistaken.

I had a 67 C/10 that had no heater from the factory.

Heater switched from option to standard about 1962. From '62 on if you wanted your vehicle without heater you would order option code C48 to get a credit on the final invoice.
