Hood hinge to fender nuts

Was trying to adjust my hood late this evening and must have popped off a nut behind the fender where the hood hinge screws into. When I try to tighten that screw, it just turns and turns. Is that nut welded on or how is it fastened to the fender? It was to dark for me to mess with it anymore, but want to see if I can get back on it tormorrow.

Those are usually welded in place. You may have to drop your inner fender to gain access to the nut on the backside of the fender.

Thanks, I was hoping that wouldn't be the case.

I had the same thing happen before. Depending on which one you might be lucky and somehow be able to reach. Dropping the inner fender isn't too bad. It's figuring out how to weld a new nut in without damaging the paint. I think I welded a small piece of metal to the nut so it would wedge itself and I could then tighten it or loosen it without struggling to put a wrench on it.
Any chance this was a repro fender? Mine was... and the welds holding the nut on were pathetic.
