10 bolt gears
I'm changing gear ratios in my 3/4 ton burb solid axles...the rear is the 9.5in 14 bolt..the frontt is the Corp 10 bolt...when I called summit the "tech" told me I needed reverse rotation gears for the 10 bolt...I thought all 10 bolts wether front or rear used the same gears...Although i've never swapped a 10 bolt front...so somebody set me straight..

Re: 10 bolt gears
The "tech" needs a new occupation. No such thing as a reverse 10 bolt--ever. Just call again and talk to another person and order some gears

Wow. He must have skipped the training class that day...
Low-pinion front axles the gear sets just drive backwards. Meaning the front drives on the coast side going forward and the drive side when going backwards. LOL We swapped a 79 TransAm Eaton LSD into the front of my kids 72 Jimmy that has 84 3/4 ton Sub 10 bolt front and 9.5" 14 bolt rear. |
Re: 10 bolt gears
Yeah ..he kinda threw me for a loop with his responce... had me 2nd guessing myself...I'd never heard of reverse rotation in gm.....here's his response by email.....I also just noticed he said it was 8.25 also...
If you ever talk to AC dont weigh to heavily on what he says..... Subject Im changing the gear ratio in my GM axles...they are from a 1991 suburban 3/4t... Response By Email (AC) (01/16/2019 04:08 PM) Greg, The front would be an 8.25 or a 9.25" IFS. Either should be a reverse rotation gear set. The rear could be a 10.5" rear gear or a 9.5". Both would have a 10 bolt cover. The following would help ID the units. http://www.diffwizard.com/DiffWizard.aspx We appreciate your business AC Summit Racing Equipment |
