Code 504 kit
 

I am starting this thread for anyone thinking about or currently using the code 504 s10 frame swap kit for a 1947-55.1. I have no dog in the fight i just spent a lot of time deciding how to approach my s10 frame swap and I want to be able to help answer anyone’s questions about this kit and share my journey building my 1950 gmc.

I'm using the Code 504 kit and it worked just fine.

@mongocanfly it’s going to be a short box. I have started the coversion to the s10 frame and i do like the kit. I did reinforce parts of it that i felt where a little weak. I will be posting more pictures and descriptions of my experience in hope to answer the questions i had before I bought the kit so others can decide what to do with more info.

@lownslow63. The only issues I had was to try and level out the box, something wasn't right so I had to modify my mounts. I might have not put enough shims up front to raise everything so that my running boards would fit. It probably wasn't the fault of Code 504.

please dont take this the wrong way, I love projects and all of us here do too, but can you either PM a mod to move this to the 47-59 projects section, or just start a new thread in the project section and post a link in this thread? a lot of guys lately are posting their projects in the general 47-59 area.

last time I asked a guy to do this he got offended and never came back. thats not my goal, and I am not gatekeeping, its just a lot easier to keep up with progress in the project forums and answer tech questions in the tech forum . the link is the top link on this page.

Joedoh has a good point there. I don't seem to check the build threads except for a couple I follow while reading almost every discussion or question thread here in this section.

Getting the bed rail on the same plane as the door sills and running boards seems to be a major issue with frame swaps. That may be because some frame swap guys are more interested in throwing it together fast rather than getting it right as the majority of the frame swappers on here tend to do.

No offense taken. Im a noob to posting on forums. Read many and been a member for years but never started a thread. I will move it or start a new one. And yes it is super clean. A high desert truck. No cancer in the cab or front end. Bed has rust issues but i will over come.

I’ve seen some questionable frame swaps and ifs installs. The key is to take the time and line it up. I promise not to make a mess of things.
