cutting weight

Is there anything on our pickups that we dont necessarily need to strip weight to make it go faster. Besides buying fiberglass body panels. thanks

Spare tire, bumpers, heck I even drove mine around with no bed on it, but I couldn't get squat for traction.:D

Seriously tho I ain't got a clue, seems to me it would be more cost effective to spend your money on HP.

Remove inner fenders, swap bumpers for roll pans, remove heater/AC stuff, allumium intake/cylinder heads, ditch cast iron manifolds for headers, use allumium wheels, and of course remove all the useless crap you haul around :bowtie:

These would apply to 73-87's for sure, some may apply to 67-72's...

-glass hood
-glass fenders
-glass bumpers or roll pans
-each bumper has 4 brackets, use only the outer two
-remove heater/AC stuff
-remove inner fenderwells
-switch from PW/PL doors to manual operation
-one piece rear glass as opposed to slider setup
-bench seat as opposed to buckets and console (or single racing seat)
-aluminum wheels
-aluminum engine components
-plastic fuel cell as opposed to steel gas tank
-remove radio and components
-remove tailgate
-remove all junk in bed and cab
-when racing, run 1/4 tank of gas as opposed to full tank
-remove spare and jack assembly

-go on a diet :)
-wear shorts not pants (less material)
-shave your head (less hair = less weight)

:D :D :D

If this is not going to be a daily driver, rip out the carpet and soundproofing (if these trucks had any) that will save you a few pounds
