1955 GMC 2nd series Radiator Core Support Mounting
1 Attachment(s)
Can someone take a picture of how the radiator core support bolts and springs go back together. I took mine apart and don't remember how it all goes back together. It has to be a GMC, Chevy is different. Here is a picture of the part.
Thanks |

Ocjason,
Here is a pic from the master parts book for the radiator core mounting: https://photos.google.com/share/AF1Q...xXTjF1NGNmVDdB and another: https://photos.google.com/share/AF1Q...VSdDUyTG1qNjB3 so u-bolt - flat plate - radiator core - shims - rubber pad - cross member - springs - washers - nuts. You can place metal shims between the core support and cross member to raise/lower the landing height of the hood at the nose. Another thing, use lock nuts so that they don't back off accidentally. Also tighten the nuts so much that you compress the springs all the way. They are there to allow movement between the front clip and the frame. I believe in the shop manual there is a spec that states how much they need to be compressed. Can't remember off the top of my head. |

Ooops, I meant DON'T tighten the nuts that you compress the spring completely. Hope you caught what I meant.
