TMI carpet vs acc
I’m getting ready to order carpet soon and was trying to pick between pmi and acc. I’m going with vintage air and will be deleting the kick panel vents and kind of like the idea of carpet instead of plastic panels. I will also be installing the rear cab carpet. All of this comes with the tmi package, but I’m wondering if the acc with mass backing (and purchase the rear wall and maybe speaker kicks) would be a better way? It looks like the tmi will have to be glued down some and I’m not fond of gluing carpet down. What’s everyone’s thoughts? Anybody used/ familiar with both?
Thanks Trey |
Re: TMI carpet vs acc
I put grey carpet from ACC and it turned to a camel brown. I called ACC and they wouldn't stand behind their product. I know others that have used ACC and like it so this maybe one case in hundreds.

Re: TMI carpet vs acc
That sucks that they wouldn’t make I right. I’ve bought acc carpet for other vehicles before and never had any issues. I was hoping some one had used both acc and tmi and would jump in with a quality comparison

Re: TMI carpet vs acc
I've have both good & bad from ACC. The front carpet for my 1986 Chevy Crewcab was great, the front carpet section for my 1987 Suburban not so good. Not sure why since they use the same molds for both. The area where the seat belts attach on the Suburban really bad, but not so on the Crewcab two years before.
Will I use them again, yes, but will be very picky next time. |

Re: TMI carpet vs acc
My ACC red carpet turned orange in spots where sunlight hits it.
