Shocks for my 63 K10
I've been searching for shocks for my 1963 K10 long bed and can't find anyone who even list them. If anyone can give me a lead on where to find them.
Thanks |
Re: Shocks for my 63 K10
Im running an older set of RS9000s. Been on the truck from when it had the original closed knuckle 44 front / 12 bolt rear and through its various incarnations through out the years to now with the current '73 44HD and 14BFF. They've been good shocks even if the tech is a little old.
Got them through 4 Wheel Parts 10 or 11 years ago by giving them the measurements. Can get the part #s off of them tomorrow after work if you want. You may be able to cross reference them to whatever brand you're looking for. |

Thanks for the info, originally was going to flip this truck but now that I've been driving everyday I am hooked. I had a 1955 Napco in my twenties and I missed that truck.
This one brings back memories of that truck. I had ordered pro comps shocks from 4wheel parts and the eyelets ends are the wrong size, I tried to return them but they said it been to long. Bought them awhile ago. I will try those numbers and let you know. Thanks |

No I haven't, but now that you mention it I'll check on it before buying another set.
Thanks Joe |
Re: Shocks for my 63 K10
Nice rigs! Had a '57 3/4 ton utility truck in my 20s. Yes indeed the '63 reminds of the Napco too.
As far as the bushings, I ended up having to remove the inner sleeves from all of the eyes as I remember. Haven't had an issue yet. Best of luck with the fitting. Its good to have a good set of shocks under these trucks. |
Re: Shocks for my 63 K10
My 61 i had to get poly bushings and mod them to fit. 60-62 k shocks are probably different

I recall that the shocks I used were actually made for a school bus. They were a Monroe Magnum 60 version and were fantastic shocks for the setup. The only thing I had to do was to weld two large flatwashers on each side of the upper rear crossmember because the holes were wallowed out. Then I could install the new hardware and shocks into the upper mounts. Does your rear axle have the 6" tall spacer block that also holds the shock mount between the axle and the spring? |
Re: Shocks for my 63 K10
the rear shock upper holes in my 61 are 3/4" I don't thank yours were wallowed out, they are just strange having huge mounting hardware. I used poly bushings and had to turn the od down to my Monroe shocks.

Thanks for all the tips, I'm hoping to get to them soon, weather permitted.
Will most likely end up using the polyurethane bushings. Again thanks for all the advice. Joe |
