Another stupid question, do any AD's have real tie rod ends?
 

I am in need of steering linkage (all the pieces) for my truck and I called someone I trust and has a bunch and he told me that they never had regular tie rod ends like you see in this photo that I was sent from a guy here. What gives, these look original, are any I see simply modified arms that had them installed? Or was there a later model one that worked?

Western Chassis also shows the tie rod if you need it. I'm thinking that they are a Western Chassis part that others sell.

Those were on my 55.1 3100 when I bought it. The previous owner sort of cobbled a few parts together so I dont know where they came from.

Thanks guys, damn this was a surprise. I guess people converted them years ago, I just hadn't thought of that.

Ok, so I have this tie rod, I have no idea where I got it. Anyway, it's got modern tie rod ends on it. The steering arms like like AD with the left side having the arm for the drag link cut off. So, I have the stock left one that is untouched you can see in the photo that I will send to SID's for modification and the right one I am asking them if they can do because it has not been tapered! It has a modern tie rod in it but it is not tapered!

Sooooooo, if this is all good I will just need a pitman arm and I am good to go.

Oh, the one thing that is different is this right (and the left that has been cut) steering arms have what looks like is an adjustable stop on them. Anyone know when that started? Other than that the right one looks identical to another AD one I have.

I've seen the adjustable stops before but can't remember on what year. I don't have stops on mine and that can be a bit interesting a times. The axle didn't come with the stop nuts on it and the replacement king pins I put in about 80K later didn't have them.

I decided to bite the bullet and when I have SID's drop my axle I am going to have them modify my steering arms and will buy all the tie rods and drag link and tie rod from them. Everything, done deal.
