66 Layed out question...
I am building a swb 66 that will lay frame...Im getting ready to mock up my motor mounts and had a question about oil pan clearance. Im staying old school and running a built sbc 327 and not going LS...Ive read a bunch about people having oil pan clearance issues with the LS but i dont see much on an old school sbc...my motor mounts will be welded in so i will have some play with height but not much due to hood clearance etc...any opinions on this or real world experience?

LS have several pans available as well to fix the issue bringing the pan above the crossmember so if anything hits it would be your crossmember. search CTS-V pan. |
Re: 66 Layed out question...
Many LS swaps require a pan change because of the pan type (truck motors being the most common culprit). These require a retrofit pan/pick-up that's shallower vs. the truck pan. SBC's w/a standard 4qt pan don't really hang lower vs. aftermarket deeper pans.
I would consult the manufacturer of your front suspension & see what they have to say. |
