Air tank mounting locations

Im fairly new to the air ride suspension stuff. Is it possible to have air bags for front and rear and mount all the equipment under the bed? I do plan on relocating my gas tank to the frame as well... just wondering if there is room for an air ride suspension while im planning my truck build up.

Mines not a 67-72, it's a 77 but there shouldn't be that much difference back there. Here's what was done on mine....

Hmm from seeing your frame shots, Im guessing the answer is no if I plan on relocating the gas tank.

thats exactly what I was thinking ... I would love to put my tanks and compressors there ... but there is already a poly Blazer tank there. :D

Yeah, if your putting a Blazer tank in the rear, it won't work like mine. Personally I woudn't put my gas tank back there. The main reason we removed the spare tire was it hung down too low. I would think the gas tank would too.

We mounted the air tanks on my Blazer outside the frame in the rear. They plan to raise the rear floor, and make a smaller gas tank to prevent it from dragging...

Here it is now...

It looks like valley 67 has you answer if your set on a tank in the rear...

I put mine in the back on either side of the tank like N2TRUX

PrimeredThunder 11-25-2003 03:13 PM

i plan on relocating mine, but i want to wait until I upgrade to a 12 gallon tank and engine driven compressor. Right now i've got to listen to my 6 gallon and my compressor mounted behind the seat.:D

Anyone ever thought of boxing in your frame rails and using them for you air tanks. Put a few bungs in and you set.

grnddwn 11-26-2003 12:16 AM

Seen it done its alot of work though

personally, I don't want it in the cab with me ... but that's something the '73 & up trucks don't have to worry about either.

I can understand you not wanting it in the cab. I wouldn't want the either. I was just commenting on the rear seems like a bad place to put it too.

I guess the floor on the 67-72 cab won't allow you enough space to mount it under the bed/cab like the 73-87's do. Is there room to put a custom built tank along the frame like that?

Yes, I have. If there is enough room, I may do this on my Blazer...

MY TANK MOUNTED UNDER CAB NO MODS AND STOCK CAB MOUNTS..

70 Jimmy 11-26-2003 11:35 PM

I was thinking of mounting mine inside the "rocker box" on my 70 Jimmy. Probably won't because so the work involved.
