Old tire sizes
Happy Sunday!!! I have a 1967 Chevy P-30 StepVan. It has the old 8-19.5" Tires. I can not find any replacement tire. I have been told that I might have to change wheel. What are some practical Suggestions???

Re: Old tire sizes
Lots of 19.5’s out there.
Measure your tires for height and width and then look for some in a comparable size. If you need help converting to metric sizes just post your numbers and we’ll help figure it out. https://www.google.com/search?q=19.5...Hcj-_wSUxqbIAg After some research I found a 225 70 19.5 is the same size as an 800 19.5. |
Re: Old tire sizes
I guess the real problem is in the width of the wheel. It is a 5.25. The newer tire sizes will not fit the smaller wheel diameter. The newer tire sizes require at least a 6" wide wheel. This is what I have read.

Re: Old tire sizes
The article seems to be concerned with the problems associated with dual rear tire combinations.
I found these. Or go full on commercial tires with lots of plys and much higher prices. https://www.amazon.com/Samson-Radial...n%3A6131685011 https://www.amazon.com/Goodyear-G171...n%3A6131685011 |
Re: Old tire sizes
I just put a set of four P225/75R15's on the some 15 x 5.5" wheels with no problem. Some people claimed that they wouldn't fit, others say the original tire size translates straight to a P225/75R15. I'd say take a wheel up to ye olde tire shoppe and see what they say.
