Replacing wiper motor issues / gas tank install

4 Attachment(s)
I'm wanting to replace my wiper motor while the cab is stripped down. Every replacement motor has 3 or 4 vertical tabs. Mine has 3 on top and 2 lower. Can't seem to find any parts stores with this motor.

Also; took the inside fuel tank out of my 71 and putting it in my rehabbed 67 cab, but the mounting holes do not line up. Is it possible that there was a different installation during these four years?

Thanks

Don

You have a stock 3 terminal wiper motor, the additional 2 terminals are for the washer pump. Wiper motor are sold separate from pumps, the wiper motor will have 3 on it, and when you install pump you get the other 2 electrical connections.

Yes, that makes sense.

Surprisingly, no one else offer that explanation.

Greatly appreciated.

If the replacement motor has 4 spade terminals the large black connector plugs into the two center terminals on the wiper motor and the single black connector plugs into the terminal above that. The notches in the connectors fit over bumps on the terminals so they can't be plugged in wrong. Don't force them on. The forth terminal on the replacement motors is just an extra ground terminal used on the earlier trucks. (before '67)

The brown connector is for the washer pump

here are a couple of pictures....

Concerning the gas tank, yes they were different. I took my 72 tank and put it in my brother's 67 and had the same issue. They had different mounting on the bottom of the tank, but i think three lined up so it worked. Then you also have some with a vent tube and some without. It worked ok for a work truck. I think the new one's only have three holes.

Cheers,
Nathan
