67 or 72 K10 which is more desirable
My brother is on the fence of selling his 72 K10 Cheyenne project SWB to me. I still have my roller 67 K10 SWB in storage waiting for a restoration when I retire and able to withdraw from my 401k. Would it be a wiser to sell my 67 and purchase the 72?

Re: 67 or 72 K10 which is more desirable
If restoring back to factory original, a few things to consider in your decision would be the factory options each truck came with, original glove box SPID and condition (dents, rust, etc..). Both trucks are rare being factory SWB 4x4’s. The options and condition will determine best choice. Just going by year model only, the 72 would probably be most desirable. 72’s came factory with power front disc brakes, NP205 transfer case, side marker lights, plus other desirable options like power steering, AC, tilt steering, etc.. The 67’s are desirable due to the unique small back window cab, grill and trim. Usually the 67’s are modified to include the factory options found on 72’s such as front disc brakes and power steering. Hope this helps.

72 for me and I'm totally a 67 guy. Reason being that 67 wasn't offered with 4x4 auto transmission. 72 was.

The 67 based on production numbers , First year body style , all metal grille ,etc, etc
I'd want to rebuild BOTH ! Re: 67 or 72 K10 which is more desirable
I'm with Grumpy, the 67 SWB K10's had very low production numbers for our trucks.

Re: 67 or 72 K10 which is more desirable
When you consider over the last 50+ years how many of the 67-72 trucks have been ...
totaled rusted away become unfinshed projects been parted out heavily modified It makes all of them that are still road worthy with a stock frame and body rare .:chevy: |
Re: 67 or 72 K10 which is more desirable
If money were the main issue surrounding what type of job the end result is focused on Condition and Rust would be the main factors.
If you could spend less on the 67 and achieve a overall better condition rig, the resale value would be more no doubt. |

My 67 K10 project needs lots a work, typical rust(floor, rockers, corners), no motor, needs wood bed, and panel work. I have 396 engine and late model Dana 44 that I plan use. I was planning to replace the 4sp and rockwell with a 700r4 and NP205. Nothing fancy on SPID except for front tow hooks and 515 paint.
No pic of the 72, has 350(non matching) 4sp AC, tilt, tach. Type rust in floor, rockers otherwise ok panels. Are there another ways to verify my 67 is a Fleetside or Step side, the SPID is rough, taken with iphone 4S. Not sure if it is KE10734 or KE10704 |

partial to 67s myself. Its a personal preference in my opinion.

Re: 67 or 72 K10 which is more desirable
A K is a K to me I love all the 4x4 67-72 trucks. I personally like the 71-72s the most but I’d build them both if I were you and had the resources to do so.

Re: 67 or 72 K10 which is more desirable
General population I think 72s are more popular as 4x4s
The 67s didn’t come with p/s or automatics or a frame provision for 67s the front and rear springs are different and 67/68 4x4s are just a little different though I prefer them and a lot of enthusiasts do as well as they were rare but the rarity doesn’t seem to add value in resale |
