GMC dash color question?

2 Attachment(s)
I’m getting close to paint on my 69 GMC. Just realized the top of the dash is a darker green like what the glove box and bezel is. The rest of the interior metal is the lighter green. Is that how it came factory? Didn’t seem right, like it had been painted but didn’t know if that’s a GMC thing like the colored bezels. Thanks.

Yup. That’s the way it was originally ordered. Medium Olive Paint and Medium Green trim. I don’t know the number codes but that’s how it would’ve been listed on the SPID

I think the top of the dash is a matte or satin finish to prevent reflection on the inside of the windshield.....

Didn’t think of that. Makes sense. It’ll go back the darker green with a matte finish. Thanks LockDoc

My 1972 GMC is Medium Green, and the area between the windshield and dash pad is satin black, and has not been repainted.

It definitely seemed odd with the cab bare and that part is a different color. I can even see thin areas/flaking where the lighter color is underneath. As LockDoc pointed out the reason, that makes a lot of sense. If i would have just done the light color, I feel like you’d see the contrast line of the dash pad in the reflection on the windshield. Looking past the reflection isn’t a big deal, plenty newer cars have tan/light interior dash. That reflected line of the dash pad I think tho would bug me.
