No SPID on some '67s ??

My '67 has no SPID on the glovebox door and no sign it ever had one (discolored paint - old glue etc). Did some come without, if so is that just one assembly plant? SPID placed in another spot on the truck other than the glovebox door?

It would be an exception to the norm if that happened. SPIDS started in 66, so there "should" be one - but ya never know what crazy antics went on at the factory...

I have seen some 67s with no spid, and even a couple of 68s. It is almost hard to find a spid on a 67 gmc.

My '67 GMC has no spid either. Looks as if it never had one there either. There is a large sticker that the selling dealer installed there with the salesmans home phone number on it! I am guessing he's not there anymore!

Never seen a SPID on a '67 GMC, but I believe a few did have them.

I was really hoping mine did, just for curiosity sake. Plus, some states use the SPID sheet as a second verification of the VIN number. Luckily WI is not one of them states because the VIN ain't even stamped on the frame of my truck.

I have two 67 GMCs, both have SPIDs. They are Oshawa trucks.

I suspect that some factories were either slow to move to SPIDs or put them on the inner fender where they would get destroyed or replaced with new inners.

You might get lucky and find one under the seat, I would check. I have never been that lucky, but I hear about guys finding them there all the time.

Mine is a Fremont truck, and from what I can see it is a VERY early run, the serial number is 1006, and from what I can see the serial numbers started at 1001.

Mine has one. It was a late build in July of '67... I also have the dimple in the frame for the later version power steering (see pic) I have manual steering however...

I would say your spid was added later but looks to be correct for the build sheet you have. It is too straight and has the clear film over it which didn't start until about 71 I believe.

Here is an original 67...
