Question about No Limit Shock Relocate upper mount

I'm in the process of mounting my No-Limit shock relocator kit and had a question about the top mount location.

The directions say that the that the large 5/8" hole should be 17-5/16" from the rear of the frame. Is this for a long box frame or a short box frame? My frame doesn't have this hole, so I'm going to have to drill it. I thought the rear frame lengths were different, thereby meaning that there should be one measurement for a short box and another measurement for a long box frame, correct?

http://nolimit.net/tech/pdf/63-72-ch...k-relocate.pdf

Also, I think I've figured out that the extra rear overload spring needs to go as it's right in the way of the shock location. That would have been nice to know before buying the kit!

Any thoughts on the measurement situation are greatly appreciated.

I just went through this confusion last year with my Suburban. It seems like early years the frames sometimes didn't have that hole. I did, but my gas tank straps used it too. I can get you some installed pics tomorrow night, and some measurements. Check these 2 pics and see if that helps though.

Thanks Reggler-
No need for the photos/measurements as I did get the kit installed. We used the directions (which are for a SWB truck) and just added the extra length of a long wheel base to get the correct measurement from the rear of the frame for the top mount.

Its pretty surprising that No Limit doesn't fix their directions so that us LWB guys can install this kit without major hassle. Having said that, now that the kit is installed, the truck rides AMAZING after also installing new standard height springs.

What was that measurement? I want to be sure I’m getting it right. Thanks.

When I installed their 4 link kit I noticed little of the measurements lined up. I called them and they said the directions were for a swb truck. I asked if they had them for a lwb and they said no and I'd pretty much have to come up with my own. Their stuff seemed of quality but I didn't have the best experience from a support perspective. But maybe they're okay being more niche and not targeting the lwb crew too.

Last page in this link Rob updated the instructions on the mounting.
I've had his kit for several years and it's one of the best mods I've ever done.

I got the kit and can’t wait to get it on. The measurement on the new instructions is definitely for a SWB truck (where mounting bracket goes on frame). I’ve found their customer service to be excellent so I’ll just give them a call for guidance.

This is a older link and it has some pictures and info on the kit. My 71 is a LWB and it's been awhile since I installed the kit but I don't remember having to call them about the mounting. I went by the instructions they sent and it all was good.
I did how ever have to take my Camaro rear sway bar off for the install but found afterwards I didn't really need it.

Thanks, Andy.

I just spoke with Eli at No Limit. Since it is a longbed I do need to add 8" to the 17 5/16" measurement.

I'll post pix once I get it done.

The kit went in with very little trouble.

Old bolts took some coercion but they gave in. There was a river that took some grinding. And the old shocks didn’t want to cooperate.

Next step, getting new shocks.

And figuring out how to measure for proper size.

Done! I ended up going with the Doetsch Hydralics that No limit recommended. I wanted to put in the ride tech but didn’t want to spend nearly $400 on two shocks.

Definitely a huge improvement. I can hit a bump without being thrown out of my seat.

Now it’s time to tackle the sloppy rag joint...

Get it out and take some curves in it. That's when you notice a nice difference in how it corners!:chevy:

So basically putting 60-62 style shock mounts on a 63-72 truck...
