88-98 on a 99-2007 frame ?
Possible without major problems ?

Re: 88-98 on a 99-2007 frame ?
The frames are different height and mount locations so no, not easy but yes it could be done with enough fabrication

Re: 88-98 on a 99-2007 frame ?
Just a thought as the S10 chassis is a common swap on the earlier pre 70’s Same wheel base ?

I have a 65 on a 04 frame with new body mounts. Then a lot of fabrication getting breaks steering etc. what are you wanting to accomplish with this swap the 88-98 drives pretty good when all is in good shape

The motor swap is way easier

Re: 88-98 on a 99-2007 frame ?
The only advantage of doing the whole frame swap compared to the engine, would be getting a much better braking system and steering. But, it is still a whole lot of work. As mentioned the engine swap is way easier.

Re: 88-98 on a 99-2007 frame ?
I'd think the benefits of any improvements are not enough to outweigh the effort. I'd do it if my truck needed another frame and I wanted all the newer stuff. The boxed '88-up frames are known for rusting out.

Re: 88-98 on a 99-2007 frame ?
I see more 99-07 frames rusted out in this area than 88-98 frames.

Unless it changed much since I moved away, everything rust like crazy in PA, especially the western half.

The quality of the steel on those trucks were just terrible. I’m in the southeastern part of the state. Halfway between philly and Harrisburg. They really like to use the salt here.

I agree, step father purchased a 1999 Silverado new and won't pass the next inspection due to rotten frame, only 120,000 miles. The frame of these newer trucks have a turned up lip that holds salt and debris. Very sad
