Best choice for wheel lug pattern 5x4.75 or 5x5
Which wheel lug pattern would be a better choice for a more variety of custom wheels? Would it be 5x4.75 or 5x5.
I am planning on converting my truck from 6 lug to a 5 lug brake system. |
Re: Best choice for wheel lug pattern 5x4.75 or 5x5
I wouldn't create a freak bolt pattern over custom wheel choice. I'd make the wheels fit the truck not the truck fit the wheels. Plenty of choices in custom wheels, you only need to pick one. I'd stay 6-lug before I'd ever go to the car bolt pattern. Heck, even the most popular car wheels (rallyes) are made in 5 on 5

Convert to 5 lug discs, use truck 5x5 pattern. Be done. |

For the most part, I agree with the two comments above, but let me ask another question. What's your intended purpose for the truck?
As for answering your original question, the 5x5 bolt pattern has become more popular in the past few years. For two reasons, 1- new Jeeps use the same lug pattern. 2- C10 trucks have hit an all time high in popularity, so the market is catering to them. This means that wheel choices are plentiful for these trucks, although still not as many options as the 5x4.75 pattern. |

I agree that 5x5 would probably be the best choice. But if you have another hot rod or two that you would like to swap wheels around from time to time that are 5x4.75, than I would go with that. Just a thought

Also remember even if you have a 5x4.75 lugs it doesn’t mean all these wheels will have the right bore size or back space since they were designed around a car

4.75 is a more common custom wheel pattern.

I debated on 5-4.75. Went with 5 on 5 because there is just as many options for wheel selection. Back spacing is gonna be deciding factor when you find a wheel. And also what rear end do you have early or late? Ones wider than the other.
