Vintage Trucks Article

I decided to strike a blow for the 1969-72 Blazer/Jimmy nation as I am tired of all of the vintage 4X4 media attention being hogged by Broncos, Jeeps and even Scouts. I wrote and photographed a feature article on the restoration of my 1971 Jimmy that is being published in the May/June issue of Vintage Truck, now available on newstands everywhere. If you get the newstand version my truck is shown at the top of the cover and the article appears on pp. 14-18.
Some of you know my Jimmy as "Project Checkbook" on the Projects and Builds forum. I called the article "A Second Life for the Ochre Ogre." The editors of VT did a nice job for me as the article includes 15 or so color pictures to accompany the text. I hope that the article will help to get our vehicles equal public attention with their competitors from back in the day. |
Re: Vintage Trucks Article
Congrats on the article! You have a great example of a Jimmy “done right “

Can't wait to read the article. Good for you for making that happen. Great restoration appropriately recognized.

I’m going to track down the issue. Definitely well deserved - great example of a K5.

Re: Vintage Trucks Article
Beautiful Rig! But they don't need any more attention, they are already as expensive as hell!
The Barrett Jackson Auctions do not help as well. All the sudden everybody thinks their trucks are 75 thousand dollar items. LOL! Honestly though, you have a great looking rig there. Pat |
Re: Vintage Trucks Article
Of course they are worth $75,000.. now that I have mine, I have no problem with that!
You have a beautiful truck! Did you leave the front grille and headlamp covers straight up chromed or did you paint the "valleys" in them? They look unpainted in the pictures. Congratulations on getting your piece published. I will definitely purchase the issue! Par |

Re: Vintage Trucks Article
Thanks fellas for all of your kind words, particularly from those of you who were my idols and exemplars during my restoration journey. It would feel weird that it is behind me save for the fact that I am now shoveling out the dinero for my 1971 SWB BB makeover. Deja vu all over again.
Parb, I hate the 1971-72 "raccoon" look that the black paint imparts to the grille and headlight surrounds so I vanquished all of it. Now it is just a sea of chrome along the front of the truck and that's the way I like it! |

Its your truck and i think it looks great. I personally kind of like the painted front look so i went that way. Either way it is a great look you got for your truck!
Adding a racoon to liven up your day... :) |
