1968 Chevrolet C60 Axle Nuts
3 Attachment(s)
Can anyone tell me where I might find new axle nuts for my 1968 C60 dump truck. Also, is there an axle nut socket that will fit inside the axle housing to remove the axle nuts. They are 3 1/2 inch. I bought a socket at NAPA and it won't go inside the axle housing. The locking nut was tack welded on the spindle and the outer threads are bad. Hoping to get the old nuts off and replace with new ones. I have a wheel cylinder that is blown is the reason for removing. I am also curious as to what the snap ring or retainer ring shown in the 2nd pic is. I haven't removed it yet. Thanks.

I’m not sure how far you are from Scott city, I tend to lump everything in the bootheel together lol. You might try this place, he also has a YouTube channel for towing. Seems like a straight up guy:
http://http://www.midwesttruck.net This place is here in central mo, I’ve dealt with them once or twice good guys also: http://http://www.ozarktruckparts.co...ble_Parts.html Maybe also call some junkyards close and see if they have any big trucks. Can’t help with the socket or retainer question. |

Thank you very much. I am only about 75 miles from Scott City. I will check them out.

Re: 1968 Chevrolet C60 Axle Nuts
I always just used a hammer and a chisel to turn them on and off.
It looks like there are already indents in your axle nuts for that purpose ...? |
