Power Steering Box Problems
 

So I sucesfully (debatable) changed the seals on the input shaft of the 78 power steering box I have fitted to my 62. I say its debatable because while I now have no fluid leak I dont have any power steering.

The steering wheel is not as heavy as a manual when turning right and only slightly lighter when turning left.

Anyone got any suggestions as to what Ive done wrong?

Have you bled all of the air out of the system yet? Every time I mess with the power steering (and its a lot due to the winch I run off of my power steering) I have to get both front wheels off of the ground, run the engine and turn the steering wheel lock to lock several times to bleed out any air that's made its way into the system.

I have Chris, several times and its still tight. Is there a bleed screw on these boxes? There is an adjuster nut but Im not sure what that actually does.

Took everything apart again and hour or so ago and refit it all. I have some power steering now but I also have a even bigger leak and this time its under pressure and coming from somewhere inside the engine bay.

Unfortunately I wont get to look at it again for about a week as Im away on business. I wonder if by sealing one leak Ive caused another, maybe a hose thats not fully tightened. I'll check next week.
