Brake and clutch pedal bushings?

The bushings are still present and intact, and the clutch and brake pedal have a relatively small amount of side-to-side play.

Is it worth replacing the bushings, or will the new ones have the same amount of play?

I'm replacing the clutch pedal bushings because of a super annoying squeak when using the clutch.

Should I put some grease on the new bushings or put them in dry. The original bushings (49 YO) were dry and worn but surprisingly intact.
