Not mine but thought I'd share this. I also thought about posting on one of the CL threads but those things are so long I dont know how many folks read them.

That's a really cool camper. But it looks totally out of place on that truck.

I really like the Avions. Almost as much as an Alaskan, Pullman or even the cool old Gemtops. That thing is HUGE and looks pretty heavy though. I could only imagine it on my Long Step. I bet there would be 2' hanging over each side! Super cool vintage cab over though!

Didn't Hemmingway have one? or am I thinking of the wrong writer?

Looks pretty cool... kind of has that Airstream vibe going on.

Yeah. Imagine that baby all polished up.

There's a guy up here that restores vintage Airstreams. They are works of art. But if the sun hits them a certain way. They'll blind you.

Exactly what I was thinking. If I owned that, I'd have to go to work on it with a buffer. I think it would be beautiful.

I had a 69 c20 Custom Camper Longhorn with an Isuzu Diesel in it until last fall when I sold it. I told the wife she should be glad I sold it because if I still had it, we'd now have an Avion Camper for it too! Seeing this ad is the first time I have regretted letting that truck go...

Never seen an Avion with a front dinette. And that looks like a half ton pickup under it ?

Steinbeck had a non-cabover "fishing-hut" style camper, with the raised portion in the middle like an old railroad car for standing height.

McQueen had an aluminum non-cabover camper on an early fifties Chevy/GMC. Lots of pictures of it online.

I would never polish that. I'd spend my time camping in it. Something about in the wilds and bright flashy objects don't mix for me. I also believe they are anodized. Avions are of the same if not better quality of the Airstreams. Airstream is just the better know, therefore the survivor. The same can be said for Silver Streaks.

I got rid of my Huntsman because I didn't want a tall bulky camper I couldn't tow with anymore, or I'd have my sister's boyfriend check it out for me. They are in Driggs.

The Avion was not that shiny when new. When I was a kid in AZ and we were camping in CO we met a family from Niles MI that had an Avion on a 1966 F-250. Funny thing, we went to that same lake again the next year and they were there again! (1967/1968)

Driggs is a beautiful area. I'm just about an hours drive from there and only 20 minutes from the camper. I can go look at it for you if you change your mind.

You might be surprised what those vintage RV's go for. Just like vintage cars & trucks. $$$$$ I was lucky to get my motorhome at a good price. But it still wasn't cheap. :waah:

Have you priced campers lately ???

That's cheap if it's in usable condition. The Capri "cowboy camper" is up over $7000 now for the base model. That's just a stoop height shell with a bed.

Ive looked at several for much less. Three grand range ... To me, and this is just me, the ones at three grand were pretty nice. But still needed too much work at three grand. Im not saying the going price isn't five grand, just saying ive seen them for less and its more than I personally would pay. I was on the hunt for one of these for a long time. I suppose I was looking for that elusive extra good deal =)

Thanks for the offer. I want an 8' crank-up for better off hiway use, tow a trailer, and haul kayaks up top
Yeah, they bought a piece o' crap place up there built before permits and have it pretty nice now. Location location location... jealousy! She has a Vanagon with a Subaru motor for camping.

Yeah, they had a blonde daughter about my age and we friended around together for the several days that we were both there. Another family at that campground had their little boy go missing and she and I were running around looking for him along with everyone else. This was just shortly after that couple got murdered at a campground near Silverton, so we were even peering down into the toilet pits. They found the little boy above ground somewhere without our help.

Next summer she stayed at home with relatives.
