Adding 3 point safety belts.
Been driving in traffic last few days while DD is in the shop. I'm thinking I would feel better if it had 3 point safety belts. Does anyone know if there is a kit? Not sure how it would mount. Don't really want to start drilling holes in the cab pillars.

Re: Adding 3 point safety belts.
Glad you found 'em. I put some in my '72 a couple years back and am very glad I did. Peace of mind....

Re: Adding 3 point safety belts.
Threaded mounting points should already exist in the cab, they may just have a cap in them. Just pop them out and mount away.

Safety doesn't happen by accident.
not sure on cabs but 67-? What is the thread size for the OEM slot on the cab for the 3 piece? 1/2" 13, 9/16" 12? |
Re: Adding 3 point safety belts.
I believe the pillar bolt is a 7/16 - 20 (fine thread) bolt.

Re: Adding 3 point safety belts.
Yep I see the plugs, I figured they were most likely related, but didn't realize that 3 point was an option at the time. I would think once you have that, it would be standard. At any rate, it will solve the problem.
I have the gas tank inside, hopefully there won't be clearance issues. |
Re: Adding 3 point safety belts.
Where did you end up sourcing the 3 point belts from? My little guy has been driving around in the truck lately and I'd feel much better with a set of 3 point belts.

Re: Adding 3 point safety belts.
I just installed them myself. Quite happy with them. I usually do not wear belts however, with a child in the truck I think I must. The reason I installed them is so I can take him for a drive in his booster seat.

Here's a sample, though of course you don't buckle them with noone sitting there, so you never see them like this...

.
Got mine from a board member here...install was a snap/easy. I too did the install initially so I could run a child seat or booster to ride my kids in the truck. What I found later may interest the OP and others: At least in my state, Texas, a vehicle that originally did not have shoulder belts installed is exempt from state seat belt laws. However if shoulder belts have been installed in the vehicle, they are required to be in use while the vehicle is in operation and are thus no longer exempt from the law. That's right, if you install the belts, a cop can legally cite you for not wearing them...in Texas and maybe other states. -klb |

Re: Adding 3 point safety belts.
I recently sold some on this board, brand was BEAM'S.
Available on Ebay and many other places, run 80 to $100 per side. Check out this thread. http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s...d.php?t=787380 |
