Too low

Went too low on the 82 in the front ( hacked to much spring )
I put a 3 inch drop spindle in it and should of left it at that .
Think I will start back at the stock spring and go from there AGAIN .
What and where would be a good spring ????

Thanx

Find a set at scrap yard/Pick-n-pull. Personally I didn't like the ride of cut springs, especially if I took out more than a coil. Far as I know, springs from any 70-87 will work.

Rock auto has springs for relatively cheap. If you are going to cut them, you might want to use heavy duty springs. This way the increased spring rate makes up for the lack of suspension travel. This way it takes the same force to bottom out the suspension.

2 spring cut on my 83 and it rides pretty nice, thought about adding 2" dropped spindles but that might be too low ;)

Lowered springs are like $100 why waste all this time instead of doing it right?

2nd rockauto for new stock units . why waste time with used 30+ year old springs for the time and energy to swap them .

Re: Too low

Very interesting thing I noticed.

Compared coil springs between a 1982 C10 and C20 with a 350. Standard duty and heavy duty are the same between C10 and C20.

Comparing 1970 coil springs, C10 heavy duty springs are the same as C20 regular duty springs.

I wouldn't be surprised that this 82 has the original shocks on it , would a set of new good shocks help on the ride maybe !!!!
What's a good shock ??? for the front

Re: Too low

Get some big block springs from rockauto and then cut one coil. I had worn out stock coils that I cut. Rode terrible and truck still had an obvious lean to the drivers side. Got some big block coils from rockauto and cut them. Rides way better and is level side to side now. I also put on some shorter bump stops and I couldn’t be happier.

This was all with my 2.5” spindles

For shocks, I got summit drop shocks.
