transmission cross member is missing

I have finally started my 63 C10 rebuild. dropped the engine into the frame and was staging the bell housing and the transmission when I noticed there is no cross member for the aft trans mount. I should explain that the truck had a 66 250 installed when i bought it and I have rebuilt it. Also need info on the bell housing mounts thru the frame. This is my first rebuild, can you tell. Thanks

Actually, manual trannys just hung there bolted to the back of the cast iron bell housing. The mount cushions are still available as "Anchor 2107" for the upper portion and 2108 for the lower half. Edit: I too thought it strange at first that the tranny would just hang out there like that, but seems it doesn't matter if its a big old "granny tranny", or a 3 speed column shift, or even if its been changed out with a Saginaw, Muncie or whatever, they all do just fine like that. Just be careful upon installation so as to get the input shaft fully stabbed before leaving it unsupported.

Do you have a source for these mounts? I have the bolts and I think there were clips on the head of the bolts.

Sure, i bought mine at my local O'Reilly auto parts, but any decent auto parts vendor can get them. Heck, even the internet giants have them. Those clips on the bolts have tabs that were modestly bent in toward the flats on the bolt heads as a type of locking device

I guess I don't know what to look for. I can't find "Anchor 2107 or 2108. If you have a link that would be great. I'll just keep at it.

I got it. I was looking for Anchor. At Oreillys it's A2107 and A2108 Thank you so much for your help.

Did you keep the stock transmission?

Most 3 speeds were supported by the crossmember at the rear of the engine and didn’t have a tail mount.

I have the 3 speed that came in the truck. It had a motor change before I got it as well. Has a 250 in it.
