Ok guys what the hell is wrong here?
 

So I recently received my 350lb springs and put them on how I assumed was the right way according to you tube. Ok so what's wrong here? Theres no engine tranny or front clip on but for some reason this just dont seem any way correct. Any help will be appreciated.

Are you sure that the smaller diameter of the coil goes to the bottom? It doesn't look like the coil is wanting to set down right over the cup.

Normally there is a formed spot for the end of the coil to set in in the pocket to line the spring up right but I don't know about aftermarket setups.

I think one problem is that you don't have any weight on it to set the springs down on the pockets right. That stock MII front end I have out in the pile has the coils bent in a big curve because it has no weight on it to compress the and straighten them out.

Try setting it down on the tires and stacking some weight on it to see what happens. You most likely will have to guide the tops of the springs into place as you let it down.

Yes, you have the right weight coils. And yes, MII coils have the flat end at the top and the free coil at the bottom.

Don't panic yet; you will be shocked at how much that front end drops when you add engine, transmission and front sheet metal. And after you drive it a few hundred miles it will drop even more. I'll bet mine dropped 6-7 inches total, from the a-arms being slammed against the stops to being perfectly level. Especially surprising was how much adding the front sheet metal lowered the ride height - maybe 2 inches. I didn't think it would make that much difference.

And if it's still not low enough just start whacking coils.

Hopefully this week I can get the motor and tranny mounted in place and let it sit in there for a bit. Thanks guys. It just looks so weird.

until you drive or move the car, even with all the weight on the suspension it will not settle. I just went thru this with my brothers 40 chevy truck. I explained to him not to cut coils or get all flustered until you drive it a little. Sure enough the wheels will not "spread" until they can roll.So whatever you do, don't go rushing in to changes without driving a little in-between each change. If you decide you must cut a coil only cut 1/2 coil at a time reassemble and drive in between changes.

JW made a goodpoint. after you have the wheels on the ground roll it back and forth a few feet in the garage for the wheels to spread out. It doesn't hurt to bounce it a few times. Old time Central Texas guys might call that the "John Lamb" test.

the suspension won't settle down until you have everything on the truck assembled, interior and glass included
even then it will take a year of driving to fully settle the springs

i had to brace the frame against the ceiling and jack up the wheel to get my shocks in
my shocks held the suspension fully extended until i completed truk
it was a full year of driving before my lower A arm finally leveled out

Not to hijack the thread, but on a somewhat related topic, does anyone know if there's a 1/2" spacer out there for a MII in order to raise it slightly after everything has settled? Would like the front ever so slightly higher.
