Emergency brake options
 

Been exploring other options and see a couple that look promising and would require little modifications. Looking at the C10 or Impala set up. Both bolt to the cowl area and seem like they’d work.Anyone tried these or other options?

I used a c10 one. I've seen where some guys have modified theirs but I bolted it in just like in a c10. Release rod goes through factory guide, just need a handle.

That’s perfect and seems like a straight forward install! Looks like it bolts directly through the hood hinge bolts, correct?

Do you have the side vent? If not you might have to use self tapping screws or weld a nuts... as far as the two through the firewall I found a picture that shows how close to hinge I got. Pretty fast install.

I used the donors cable and rear bracket and I made a front one to get the cable in a good spot to get the right length. The rear bracket off the c10 was just bolted but the front bracket was actually apart of the front cab mount. Way to bulky to deal with and after some trial and error I made a bracket.

I used the one from my 84 gmc 1500 chassis. Reused the orig 54 brake rod and release hardware. Some small U bolts worked just fine to adjust cable length. BTW theres some good ground spades on mine and have used all but one. It does come up a little high when released but a minor deal.

I've had one like that in my truck for years and as Vintovka said about the only rub is you do have to raise your foot up higher than normal to be able to push the pedal down. Mine might set a bit higher than most because I have it above a small speaker box I made.

Mine also came off an 84, Chevy but same thing. Yea I do have to raise my foot a bit more but it was either cut the assembly and reweld at a different angle or raise my foot...

A guy on here somewhere did go the cut and reweld route. I think he cut a V out of the back section and when rewelded it rotated the assembly down while still mounting flush to the wall.

Pics in both up and down positions. Works ok. If I had still had the skill i would bend/weld lever down 2-3".
