72 gmc Sierra grande stuck in 4 wheel drive
I have a 72 gmc Sierra grande 1/2 ton 4x4 that is stuck in 4 wheel drive. It has a 205 transfer case. I cant get the transfer case shifter to move and the hubs wont unlock either. Any suggestions or advise?

Prolly shift linkage froze. Spray some penetrating lube on the pivot and the cross bar where hooks to the shift rails. I had one freeze on one. Hubs won't unlock cause there is tension on the driveline.

If it's been driven on a hard surface (like pavement) the driveline might be bound up. Try driving slowly in reverse while steering left & right. If it's still bound up you might have to jack up a front tire, then you should be able to release that hub and take the TC out of 4WD.

Re: 72 gmc Sierra grande stuck in 4 wheel drive
i like napa chain and cable lube . its a foamy oil that sticks real good for lasting lube . also spray the rails that go in the case the link bar is hooked to .
as said she is just bound up a bit . |
