Cowl vent drain hose?

Just getting ready to take the maiden voyage in my truck and I'm finalizing a few minor details. Did a search on this and nothing came up so I thought I'd ask: The top cowl vent on my AD has a drain that exits right above all the new wiring under my dash (without the hose). So I bought an aftermarket replacement hose. Now it exits through the firewall right above the distributor on my SBC, which is worse. I could extend the hose down past the distributor, but that might look a bit goofy. I was hoping one of you guys might have a slick solution.

My cowl vent has one of those foam gaskets in it, so maybe water won't even get into that drain. Thoughts?

Yep, Lots of us who have had one of these trucks have fought that battle.

What I intend to do on mine "this time" is to run a tube down the inside of the firewall to the right of the indent to the foot board and make a hole there so that it exits below the floor much like the drain tube on an AC unit. With a short piece of hose from the vent drain tube to that tube I should be good.

YEp, that's my plan too.

I welded my fire wall hole closed and rand the drain house on the inside of the firewall. I added a T to the hose and connected my drain from my AC system to drain out of the same hose.. I never liked the look of the factory drain hose sticking out of the fire wall.

I just did this repair last week. I'm not crazy about the hose exiting onto the valve cover, I'm guessing it could get into the cover/ oil?

The original hose was split under the dash (for who knows how long) and likely caused a lot of my dash/ floor rust issues.

Longer hose does the trick. Pun intended.
