Re: headlight switch
if you still have the hardware to hold the old switch in the dash and also the plunger with the knob you could try an ac/delco like this. it would look stock then. most control the dome light as well. you gotta have a good ground on the dash though. the light is powered all the time and the switch is on the ground side. the headlight or door switch simply works as the ground for the bulb.
https://www.rockauto.com/en/parts/ac...mp+switch,4472 another common switch but doesn't come with the nut or the plunger. easy to get those from a junk yard if you don't have the originals. https://www.amazon.ca/Standard-Motor...P51NMZDRZR74YY |

If you have a NAPA nearby, they should be able to supply a quality replacement switch.
I added courtesy lights and door jamb switches, everything is controlled by a relay. By connecting the dome light ground on the HL switch to the same terminal as the door switches (#85) the lights will come on when either door is opened, or the HL switch is rotated to the dome light "on" position. It's a really simple upgrade to improve the functionality of interior lighting. |
Re: headlight switch
stock replacement from brothers worked great for the last 10 years
has dimmer for dash lights and dome light switch, easy connections to aftermarket harness read my build for an easy door pin solution to the dome light |
Re: headlight switch
I'd say the key here is if you want it to work with your stock knob and bezel.
I've had the switch, knob and bezel out of some 70 something donor in my 48 for years. Can't remember what it came out of as it was the car I was scraping at the time. I'm thinking 74 Pontiac Ventura though as that is what the engine and rear axle came out of and I was robbing parts in a scramble to put the truck back together in a real short time frame. |
