Weather strip question
Is there supposed to be more than just what's on the cab opening? With my doors closed I can look up and see daylight through the top. I got rather wet yesterday lol

Re: Weather strip question
Sounds like your weatherstrip / door seal is worn out/compressed or your door is out of adjustment. I would think the wind noise would be terrible.

Re: Weather strip question
Normally no. IIRC, there was a thread on optional seals that were installed on some trucks to address a leakage issue.
Make sure you have the plastic on the striker bolt. Rather amazing how much tighter the door seals when the plastic is there vs just the bare metal bolt. |

It's not new but it doesn't look flat. The wind noise is negligible as it doesn't have AC and I ride with the windows down all the time. Quote:

I think this is the thread that Dead Parrot was referring to. http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s...d.php?t=783749

Re: Weather strip question
My 82 truck had new door seals, but still had a very small leak when it rained, so I added these to the top half of the doors. Soffseal # SS-9352. https://www.soffseal.com/ss-9352
Also, it's not scientific, but I think they quieted down the cab a little. From what I've read, the factory installed them on higher trim level trucks. FYI, installation is with the adhesive side down (on the bottom in the first picture). Just noticed your avatar is a mid-60s truck. if that's what you're asking about, then all bets are off! Re: Weather strip question
the door looks low in the picture => adjust.
Factory GM door or aftermarket? i have found a surprising number of replacement doors that seem to be "flatter" maybe through shipping, and have needed to carefully bend the upper part of the door(more near the top of the vent window) in(towards cab) in order to get a proper seal with the weather stripping. |
